Animal Control

The City of Fitzgerald Animal Control division consists of two (2) full time Animal Control Officers.  The main purpose of this division is to perform skilled work in the apprehension and care of animals found in violation of animal control ordinances.

The Animal Control division works under the direction and supervision of the Fitzgerald Police Chief.

All animals apprehended by the Animal Control division are taken to The Fitzgerald – Ben Hill County Humane Society Animal Shelter, a non-profit organization located at 106 Lions Park Road.

The Mayor and City Council of the City of Fitzgerald adopted an Animal Control Ordinance on September 9th, 2002.  The City Animal Control began enforcing the new restrictions contained within this ordinance on January 1, 2003.
