Welcome to the City of Fitzgerald's Public Works Department.

Public Works provides integral services to our community everyday. Our departments mission is to provide quality services to the Fitzgerald community. Developing and offering efficient, cost effective services in partnership with our citizens will help us achieve our vision of making Fitzgerald a leading city in the country by being an outstanding provider of Public Works services.

	Street Department We currently have 10 employees. Our duties include but not limited to the following: street maintenance of 80+ miles, ditch maintenance, right-of-way grass cutting, alley maintenance, sidewalk maintenance, storm water maintenance, and assisting redevelopment in demolishing blighted and abandoned structures.
	Sanitation Department We currently have 12 employees. Our duties include but not limited to the following: garbage collection for 250+ commercial customers, 4,300+ residential customers (to see what day your pick-up is on see the map), 30+ industrial customers, plus for city residents free yard debris pick-up (this service is on a schedule, you should have 1 pick-up every 6 weeks) and household furniture / appliance pick-up. 	Parks Department We currently have 4 employees. Our duties include but not limited to the following: maintain flower beds and cut grass in 48 median parks, the Grand Park Plaza, and all other city facilities (ex. City Hall, Chamber of Commerce, etc.).
	Evergreen Cemetery Department We currently have 5 employees. Our duties include but not limited to the following: maintain and mowing 86+ acres of cemetery space as well as locate plots and prepare final resting places.
	Shop Department We currently have 4 employees. Our duties include but not limited to the following: maintain, service and repair 117 vehicles for administration, parks dept., cemetery dept., airport, community development, police dept., building inspector, fire dept., animal control, street dept., shop dept., sanitation dept., Department of Leisure Service, and the Landfill. Plus we maintain, service and repair all of the equipment (ex. weed eaters, lawnmowers, etc.) for any of the departments mentioned above.
